Dr. Tao is a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at UTHealth Houston. He serves as Associate Director for the Texas Institute for Restorative Neurotechnologies. Dr. Tao has extensive experience in developing ontology-driven web-based applications and novel software tools for data capture, data integration, and data harmonization in the clinical and biomedical domain. He has been the lead developer for data infrastructure for the NINDS-funded Center for SUDEP Research (U01 NS090408), as well as the lead architect working with Dr. Zhang for the BRAIN Initiative Cell Atlas Network (BICAN)’s Coordinating Unit for Biostatistics, Informatics, and Engagement (CUBIE; U24MH130988) on the rapid design, development, and operationalization of the NIMP platform to support BICAN. He is a developer of the Interactive Mapping Interface (IMI) tool as well as NeuropsychToMe, and have been a member of Dr. Zhang’s neuroinformatics group for over a decade.
He will work with MPIs Drs. Cui, Liu, and Zhang closely to lead the technical and engineering effort for creating data ecosystems CDE-Engine and CDE-Data for the ReCARDO project, advancing the scientific agenda on AD/ADRD set out with inputs from AD/ADRD domain experts MPIs Drs. Arvanitakis and Petersen.
