Dr. Bauer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Data Science holding the James W. Rockwell Professorship in Public Health at the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health. Her research areas focus on geospatial and spatial-temporal modeling, small area estimation with application with epidemiology, and social determinants of health (SDoH). She is well-versed in the challenges and limitations of using such data for inference, including issues of data quality, bias, and generalizability. She have developed and published novel spatiotemporal statistical models to address these challenges, while collaborating extensively with researchers from diverse disciplines to ensure robust and meaningful analyses. For this ReCARDO U24, Dr. Bauer will provide statistical support, particularly in relation to understanding the risk factors for chronic disease and the various SDoH and health disparities. She will also contribute her expertise in using public health monitoring databases, electronic healthcare record databases, claims databases, and registry databases.
